Have you read?
Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s off to work I go by Emma Bennet

After a lovely break for Christmas and New Year, it’s time to knuckle down and get back to some serious writing!

It seems I always forget quite how long it takes to prepare for Christmas! I had planned to write ‘properly’ up until about December 20th, but I tend to do most of my writing in the evening when little peeps are asleep. This isn’t really any good when you need the kiddies-out-of-the-way time to wrap all the presents! I endeavored to fit some writing in during the daytime, but, of course, as well as the usual demands for juice and stories, there’s also all the Christmas baking to be done! One can’t neglect the old mince pies and Christmas cakes! Oh, and don’t even get me started on how long shopping for presents and festive food and drinkies takes! And ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ wasn’t about to watch itself now was it?

In the end I decided to give in gracefully to the Christmas madness – I jotted down ideas when I could but essentially concentrated on having a wonderful time.

I did think I’d feel terribly guilty when I returned to ‘work’ and was further behind than I’d hoped with several projects, but actually I’m just really happy to have had a lovely rest, and am raring to get back into things! I’ve found a few children’s stories I wrote years ago and have been having a fab time editing them and trying to decide what to do with them. My romantic short story needs an ending, but is shaping up, and my second novel, ‘His Secret Daughter’ has been held up but is very, very, very nearly completed and ready to go. Lots to do, but I’m very happy to be stuck in the middle of it!

Now did I see a lone mince pie in the cake tin…
